Education and Outreach

Tipu Tipu Research and Sustainability supports and engages communities through volunteer events and interpretive community engagement including field trips for schools, corporate and private groups to our restoration site, hosting special events, appearances at local events, and through presentations to school groups.

Tipu Tipu hosts UHMC interns and offers workforce education trainings in restoration activities including field practices, nursery/greenhouse care, and seed collecting and storage to community members, high school and college students.

Volunteer and Community Events

Tipu Tipu Restoration and Sustainability hosts monthly volunteer events at our greenhouse and seed farm location and at our field restoration locations. Our volunteer days provide watershed education and engage the public in restoration activities of planting, propagation, seed collection and invasive species removal.

Watershed Education

Tipu Tipu Restoration and Sustainability provides watershed education in various outreach events, school presentations and to corporate, country and state decision makers. These outreach events are presented by one of our field or marine biologists.

Tipu Tipu offers educational presentations about what is a healthy watershed, how human impacts have affected watersheds, the impact sedimentation has on the ocean and our coral reefs, and provide solutions and proven examples of watershed restoration.

Educational Materials

Tipu Tipu Restoration and Sustainability has published its book: Watershed Education using Nature Based solutions. Upcoming books will include topics of waste water and focus on careers in restoration and sustainability.
